Hello, I’m Jeff Stevens.

Personally

I live with my wife, two kids, and two cats in North-Central Florida close to Gainesville and the University of Florida. I’m politically liberal and libertarian, not always in that order, and I’m a Unitarian Universalist with a decided bet towards Thoreau and the outdoors, although I don’t spend near enough time in the wild (my tastes tend towards mountains and streams).

The time I’ve lived in Florida is the longest I’ve lived in one place. I’ve spent time in California, Georgia, Kentucky, Texas, North Carolina, Alabama, and Germany. I’d love to be in Wyoming or New Zealand.

I like movies, television, science fiction, and comic books. I have a keen taste for history and geography. My tastes for music run eclectic and I really enjoy Old Time Radio serials. I like to hike, bicycle, play soccer, getting caught in the rain, and long, sloe kisses that last for three days.

Oh my.

Professionally

Since 2000, I’ve had two separate careers going as both a freelance designer and as a web communicator in Higher Education.

As Creative Director for Union Design & Photo, I’ve worked with hundreds of clients on branding their businesses, in developing the designs for the collateral and websites, and in providing advice on content and social media.

At the University of Florida, I’ve served both as the webmaster for Student Financial Affairs and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, virtually a university within an university. Currently I work as the Web Content Optimizer for UF’s Academic Health Center, where I work with the college and Shands Hospital on information architecture, SEO, social media, usability, accessibility, and content strategy.

Hands of Twilight

Few hands in the world are as well known as Kimbra Hickey’s – the model whose delicate upturned palms can be seen on the cover of the best-selling twilight.
